The Lakehouse studio and gallery would have been a renovation of the historic 1920 Haslet’s grocery store in Lakemont on Lake Rabun. It was to be a place for landscape painter Virginia Mcclure to work and show her paintings and photographs, as well as the work of a few other selected artists. The theme of all art work in the gallery is to be an appreciation of the earth, the natural world and outdoor life with an upbeat and/or reverent attitude.
The mission of the gallery is to showcase a few really high quality works of investment grade, with the aim also to have a variety of size and price ranges in order to offer something to both the investor/connoisseur as well as the beginning collector.
The buyer will not have to sort through heaps of stuff to find the art treasures - this very discerning artist makes a very careful selection.
Art is an investment. High quality art works appreciate in value... have you priced a Monet or a Wyeth lately? A word of advice to investor/collectors: choose art that you like, that is meaningful and decorative and you can enjoy in your home or workplace. Avoid trendy things that are tied into the fashion and manufacturing world: their objective is to render today’s purchase obsolete as quickly as possible through the promotion of eccentric style and color. Look for art that has timeless qualities and that people in future will be able to understand and relate to without a written explanation.
OOPS - backed out of this great....

This card makes it look cute in a dilapidated way - inside it is oppressively cluttered and layered with each new "do-up". It has 3 ceilings one inside the other and lots of layers of panelling and siding, but apparently the original unpainted cedar is under the green stuff.
I reaized that if I took on this project, it would create a financial and physical strain that I am not up for these days - maybe it will still be available in a year or so when I am better settled with new home have had some attention for my knees etc.... the hotel across the street is going to have a gallery and conference room for art workshops so it would be too much of a good thing at that location. What the location needs is a cafe, ice cream parlor and/or news-stand - or just a convenience store.
