Several of these restaurants are planned for the Athens/N. GA area - one is currently under construction in Watkisville.

Floyd was the owner's grandfather who had had a restaurant in Nicholson and in Tallulah Falls.

I rendered the illustration of Floyd from a newspaper photo as a vector art file so as to be printable at any size and also to cut in vinyl.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN This logo was reworked various times as the magazine evolved. It started with an elegant design (not mine) when the name of the company was Athens Community Bulletin. Since it was thought that the magazine could expand into other communities the name was changed substituting "The" for "Athens" and the elegant lamp post ensignia was dropped in favor of the bold and contemporary look with "the" lower case set vertically as a reverse. While we were at it the font was changed to Georgia which was then used for headers and editorial in the magazine.
Each cover had the logo in a different color theme: see Cover Art

2004 campaign.

I developed the logo for Jane to be used on ads, yard signs, bumper stickers and other campaign materials. The heavyface font is clear and bold implying the honesty and strength of character, which I know her to have.

She won the election. Congratulations to Jane.

Then for her Senate race Jane wrote to me,

"Everyone said they loved my graphics in the last campaign!

So... here is her new bumper sticker. I tested it and it is clearly legible from quite a distance away even though it is only 7 inches wide.

Athens Chevrolet. This logo has been used in every combination of colors. Here we see as it appears on the business cards of the sales staff, similar to the decal that is put on all the new cars, and below is the version that is in use on all the dealer tags. Variations of it are embroidered on the staff shirts and jackets as well as the letterhead.

While under the employ of the local newspaper, I built several versions of the logo by finding the font and sizes and arrangement of letters that had flair and yet preserved the clarity of straightforward type. We first used them on their newspaper ads soon after the dealership changed ownership from Brack Rowe.

1998-2001. Here are some logos/section headers that I created while employed by the newspaper.

The Celebrations section is for the engagements, weddings and anniversary announcements which the customers began having to pay for, so it was thought that the section should be dressed up.

Today's Youth is a logo that was developed for use small on the front page for a daily spot featuring the achievement of a local youth. It was also used as a special section header and was emblazoned on the company fleet of trucks back when there were both morning and evening editions. Also several billboards featured this logo: very big promotion.

The Job Fair logo was developed for use on the newspaper ads and posters (mostly in black and white) for the annual event at the Classic Center. The 'EMPLOYERS-EMPLOYEES" words were my first foray into 3-D; it makes an optical loop.
