The concept for this painting took seed when I did some studies of the "Black" Tropicannas,
the ones with the purple and green leaves and red flowers and that same evening a harvest
moon rose, which I put in the painting. Then, much along the lines of 4 seasons, the idea
to do a cycle about the Tropicannas came about.
The left panel is the first bloom seen in morning against the light, the second panel is in a
high noon, mid-summer glare and the third panel in before sundown with the rosy
moon rising
